There’s a Lip There!

The first CARPEX weekday morning workout is IN THE BOOKS! Oh yeah!!! (picture Vector from Despicable Me doing hip thrusts)!  A BIG thank you to the 7 ladies that joined me early this morning to break in the new AO. Next step is to name that sucker and get it on the website; yeah!

It was a balmy morning (almost 40*) and because I got there early I took a quick lap around the soccer field to scope out the turf.  It’s got good bones and will do just nicely :).  VanGogh may have thought I was trying to get in a little extra credit but after assuring her I was just eyeing the territory we took a moment to enjoy the twinkling stars…benefits of a 5:45AM start!

The Pax showed up on time and we got to it with a w/u lap around the soccer field, some JJ & good mornings IC, 5 inchworms, some arms circles and pot stirrers.

Inflating Blimps-start with the first exercise, run a lap around the parking lot, do the first and second exercise, run a lap, and so on until that Blimp is full! Anyone that finished before everyone else got to partner up with someone not finished and work it out together to the end.  No woman left behind. Also, star jumps > squats. Holy moly. Shaun T crushed it! I was probably the loudest grumbler…merkins, man. they suck.

Next up: Paint the Lines (each parking stripe you sprint, side shuffle to the next line, back pedal that line, side shuffle to the next line, and repeat) We did 2 sets of parking areas.  It was tougher than I thought it would be and I got winded about 3/4 of the way in.  S.O. to Bagheera and Tiger Tail for passing me up!

Lastly: AB work (rounds of 20)
Reverse Sit ups
Flutter Kicks
Scissors
Leg Raises
Leg Circles (10 each way with a partner)
20 second hold

There’s a lip there! I think everyone of us tripped on the curb leading to the shelter, at least once. I may have done it 2 or 3 times. So, watch your step!

And a prayer thanking God for sending his Son and for His help lifting our eyes to remember why we celebrate this season at all and to see what God is doing all around us and how we can play a part in it by serving and loving others.

Thanks again for the fun morning workout.  Looking forward to making this routine! So proud of everyone that came out…those who don’t like the cold, those that don’t like getting up early. You are all stronger for putting aside those road blocks and doing something great for your body and soul. And guess what…that workout ain’t loomin over your head anymore!
