SHE’S NOT PLAYING WITH A FULL DECK

In this tabata-style workout, each suit represents an exercise and the value of each card determines the number of reps. Face cards all have a value of 10.

On “go”, a card is drawn and the group completes the exercises and reps determined by the card, with a 20 second time limit to keep things moving. During the 10 second “rest”, the next card is drawn and called out to the group.

Watch out for the jokers! Drawing one of those bad boys will result in 15 burpees.

We split the workout into three 10-minute rounds, and the exercises assigned to each suit changed each round to keep the game interesting. When we ran out of cards we started over at the top of the deck.

Round 1

♥ Hearts: High knees

♠ Spades: Push-ups

♦ Diamonds: V-ups

♣ Clubs: Tricep dips in bridge position with front leg lifts

Round 2

♥ Hearts: Lunge switches

♠ Spades: Supermans

♦ Diamonds: Butt kickers

♣ Clubs: Sit-ups

Round 3

♥ Hearts: Prisoner squat jumps (plié squat jump with hands behind head)

♠ Spades: Frog press (lying on stomach, put soles of feet together and press while lifting knees off floor)

♦ Diamonds: Good mornings

♣ Clubs: Plank jacks
