It was cold morning yet again. We didn’t have a Q on the schedule but decided as a group to do a run/walk. With the Olympic Opening Ceremonies today, we honored the event with a torch run of our own.
Walk across bridge and over to USCA campus.
Interval walk with Indian run. We mostly walked and on the more flat, straight paths of our journey we did the Indian Run. The front runner held the torch and passed it off when the back runner came up front; we did this until each person had received the torch 4 times, then we walked until we reached the next best run spot. Overall we did just over 2 miles.
Walk back across the bridge to our cars.
Devo and Prayers
1 Corinthians 9:24-27 (ESV); 2 Timothy 4:7-8 (ESV)
Since we were running we decided to reflect on some scripture about running. During our walk/Indian run we talked about 5ks we were doing and those we wanted to participate in. We mentioned our goals of getting to a goal weight and/or working toward having a healthy lifestyle. Of being an inspiration to those around us and setting a good example for our children. These conversations resonated with the words of Paul about “not running aimlessly; not box as one beating air” but of ” disciplining our bodies and keeping under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified.” We have health goals and aspirations, but to achieve these goals we must focus on God, uses the tools and opportunities He gives us, and exhibit discipline in staying on track.
