The Site: 14 PAX (including 1 FNG. Welcome Roots!) met up before sunrise for a 45 min. workout. 2 PAX had to leave early. Oh boy, I didn’t quite realize how much of a beat down that partner workout was going to be. Personal shout out to my partner Potter who stayed so strong throughout and that really pushed me to keep up with her and push myself as well.
Welcome and Disclaimer
10 IC of each exercise: Arm Hugs, Arm Windmills, Jumping Jacks, Jump Ropes, Daisy Pickers
Squats – (3.5 min.) done to Flower by Moby
Partner Up – Partner 1 runs, Partner 2 does exercise, when Partner 1 gets back they begin exercise where Partner 2 left off while Partner 2 runs. *Keys was so encouraging as we were running back and forth across the tennis courts…it’s amazing how a “great job” or “you’ve got this” can take me from walking back to jogging!
200 Mountain Climbers (2 is 1)
Early Finishers – hold plank *when we were running a bit short on time I loved that several ladies came over to help one group finish off those 300 squats.
High Plank 45 sec. 15 sec. rest
Plank Jacks 45 sec. 15 sec. rest
Low Plank 45 sec. 15 sec. rest
Side Plank Left 45 sec. 15 sec. rest
Side Plank Right 45 sec. 15 sec. rest
*We had “Shake it Off” by Taylor Swift going in the background…and the chorus took on a whole new meaning, as my arms were definitely shaking trying to hold those planks!
Count-O-Rama, Name-O-Rama, and Circle of Trust:
When writing this workout I was thinking about the FiA slogans “better together” and “stronger together” and the partner workout I’d designed (how daunting 200 mountain climbers or 300 squats would be if done alone!) and it reminded me of the importance of community…community with other people and with the Lord. I then shared a few bible verses and quotes about the importance of community:
John Milton -“Loneliness was the first thing that God’s eye named not good.”
“The Lord God said, ‘It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him'” (Genesis 2:18).
“I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, who will stay with you forever” (John 14:16)
Paul Tripp – “We weren’t created to be independent, autonomous, or self-sufficient. We were made to live in a humble, worshipful, and loving dependency upon God and in a loving and humble interdependency with others. Our lives were designed to be community projects. Yet, the foolishness of sin tells us that we have all that we need within ourselves. So we settle for relationships that never go beneath the casual. We defend ourselves when the people around us point out a weakness or a wrong. We hold our struggles within, not taking advantage of the resources God has given us.”
Gloria Arroyo – “The power of one, if fearless and focused, is formidable, but the power of many working together is better.”
We then ended in prayer. Afterwards six of us went to Starbucks afterwards for more fellowship.
