“No plan survives first contact”…that was the advice my husband gave me when planning out the first block workout for FiA Northeast Tennessee and boy was he right! We’ve been getting increasingly better with our workouts and our PAX is growing stronger. Adding some level of resistance is a smart next move. However, blocks are another story all together…
The goal with this workout was to attempt a series of moves with the blocks to see what we could do and what we could not do. We did a descending count of reps of different exercises and then did bear crawls and lung walks across the field and back. Exercises were block burpees, dead lifts, arm curls, pushups, and a few others that we did as we modified. Honestly, I have lost the complete write up of the plan but it was modified heavily as we worked it anyway! What we found out is that working with blocks is certainly doable with modifications for those who need lesser weights. It is a less expensive way to get weights that can be used in a variety of ways.
We had a good bit of talk today about possible upcoming CSAUP events. Also, we spent some time breaking down what worked and did not work with the blocks. We didn’t have any uplifting conversations really but we talked about how adding resistance would move us to the next level with our workouts.
