What a privilege to co-Q the launch of a new region! Briar Chapel in Chapel Hill–these ladies Showed Up! 25 pax posted along with 7 of us field tripping from Carpex for a total of 32! It was definitely a new challenge for this Q leading so many women through a workout but it was so worth it. Disclaimers were provided and a quick lesson in cadence counting and we got down to it.
W/U: IC: Jumping Jacks, sumo squat punches, small arm circles forward and back, large arm circles forward and back, windmills. OYO: 5 inch worms
We broke into two groups using the long bench and the picnic tables for a FiA 5 year anniversary fiver. 10 dips and 5 derkins on the Q’s down x5.
Next we moseyed to the squash courts (yes there are squash courts with a sweet wall that will be a great place for wall sits, bellies to the wall and so many other fun exercises in the future!). Here we partnered up for another fiver. While one partner did commando burpees (instead of a push up at the bottom do an up up down down) the other partner sprinted to the wall for 10 high jump wall taps. Repeat x5.
After regrouping we moseyed around the perimeter to the bottom of the hill. Using the 12 trees beside the road we bear crawled to the first tree then sprinted the next two trees, then bear crawl to the next tree and sprint the next two…and so on to the top of the hill. It was so much fun we did it again!
We headed next to the large tennis courts for a suicide Dora (we ran a suicide to each court instead of one set distance):
100 Peter Parker merkins
200 imperial squat walkers (I audibled this to 100 b/c dang they take a long time and we were running out of time)
300 pit taps
Lastly, we circled up and Peachtree led us through some timed ab work:
30″ right side hold
30″ left side hold
1′ american hammers
30″ flutter kicks
Name-a-rama-there were so many FNGs(!) we broke into small groups to name them faster and I’m breaking protocol by not listing their real names here first…hope that’s ok! If my count is accurate we named 22 FNGs!
COT: encouraging words from Peachtree:
Thank you for giving us an opportunity to come help you launch your region. I remember when Carpex launched and it meant the world to have FiAs from other regions there to help launch. This is a sisterhood that you are joining. These women are going to be here to help lift you up with encouragement, push you to give your best, cry with you when your heart is breaking, celebrate your accomplishments, and wait for you when you fall behind. One thing is for sure, you will bond with each other and you will always be there for each other. Welcome to the sisterhood!
I couldn’t have said it any better!
Welcome to the sisterhood, Chapel Hill!
