Philippians 3:3 (NIV) “For it is we who are the circumcision, we who serve God by his Spirit, who boast in Christ Jesus, and who put no confidence in the flesh—though I myself have reasons for such confidence.”

Would you consider yourself a confident person? Someone who is self-assured in their abilities and talents? Or do you lack confidence, doubting you have the credentials, skills and assurance it takes for God to use you in greater ways?

Paul’s confidence wasn’t based on what he could do for God in his own strength, but what God was infinitely capable of doing for him and through him.

In the same way, our confidence must be firmly rooted in our relationship with Jesus Christ. In understanding all that He has done for us, all that we have received from Him and all that He plans to accomplish through us.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I’m so grateful my confidence doesn’t rest on my own abilities and achievements, but comes purely from my relationship with You. Today, I will boast about Your goodness, Your accomplishments and Your plans. I will find assurance in Your presence and in Your promises. And I will shine with godly confidence in the forever redeeming work that Jesus accomplished on the cross for me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
